Some of the most important laboratory equipment available and usable in the Green Earth Technology Laboratory is as follows:
Sample Preparation:
Preparation and curing of plant-based or bacterial soil samples under controlled three-variable environmental conditions
Applying freeze-thaw cycles within a temperature range of -25 to 70 degrees Celsius without limitation
Burning soil materials up to a controllable temperature of 1200 degrees Celsius
Propagation and growth of plant species under laboratory conditions
Biomechanical Properties of Soil:
Index tests and determination of biomass characteristics and bacterial population
Measurement of saturated and unsaturated soil consolidation curves
Measurement of wave velocity in the root-zone environment
Hydraulic Properties of Soil:
Determination of the one-dimensional permeability function
Determination of the two-dimensional permeability function and anisotropy coefficient
Determination of the soil-water retention function for simulation of multiphase flow under transient conditions
Determination of temperature-dependent permeability for the design of final covers for municipal waste landfills
Physical Modeling:
Evaluation of failure or water erosion of soil slopes
One-dimensional physical modeling of multiphase flow in the presence of soluble or insoluble pollutants
Evaluation of debris flows and design of engineering and natural barriers to counteract them
Thermal evaluation of soil layer behavior in relation to water permeability and methane gas permeability
